    I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't know what you mean by the "Fuel tap rubber". This happened when the motor was brand new, so I don't think it is aged rubber. But it does sit out in the sun, so heating could be an issue. If your idea is right, then presumably I can leave the vent lever...

    I have had the same problem periodically over the last 2 years. Yesterday the engine would not start and I found the oil reservoir overfilled and gas in the oil. I know for sure it had been stored tilted up on my dinghy with the fuel shut off and the vent closed. I don't know how to stop...
