    Advice? My 1983 40 HP Mercury Outboard won't go into Neutral or Reverse

    So one day I launched my 14' runabout out on the water only to discover that won't go into a resting neutral position or reverse at all. Instead, it advanced forward oh so very slightly. This can be a pretty dangerous situation when launching in crowded marinas and is overall pretty hazardous...
