    I need some help. I have a 19 I need some help. I have a 1982 mariner 3 cylinder It starts and runs fine when I have the ears on it out of the water but when we put it in the water it will start and throttle up but when you bring it back and put it in gear to go forward it always dies goes...

    Only forward gear

    I have a 1982 70hp mariner cha I have a 1982 70hp mariner changed water pump reinstalled lower unit know I only have forward gear no nuetral or reverse.I did not shift it into forward when i changed the water pump any ideas how to fix this problem.
