    1986 Yamaha 175 running rough

    Just had a new battery installed. Left ramp went about a mile out slowly increasing speed to about 3500 rpm. All of a sudden the engine alarm went off and the engine was running rough real bad.     1986 175 Outboard choke issues

    No it’s more like when this helm switch (toggle) is used to choke the engine a relay that’s inter connected to the linkage connected to the reed valves does not shut them allowing more fuel into the engine. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. Looks like a plunger.

    The switch on the dash occasionally sends a signal to activate the flaps to choke the carbs. Not sure what the problem is. Very inconsistent
