If it is #54 that got dislodged, then it is common for #14 & #21 to pop out of mesh with each other & become misaligned. On the earlier 115/130 you can remove #23 to gain access & realign #14 & #21.
jgmo you got one digit wrong.
The part is listed on Yumbo, (#25). But that is no guarantee that it is available. You could request a quote to confirm availability.

I'm not familiar with the BF225, but I have heard of (on BF225) oil leaking out past the steering fork when tilted up, which is caused by a cracked engine mount cover plate. I'm not sure if that would also allow water into the oil. Not easy to get to.

As jgmo said items 18 & 12 may have become disengaged when the lower unit was reinstalled if the lower shift shafts were not aligned correctly & the unit was forced up.
The first & easiest thing to check is that circlip #52 is in place(can be seen without any disassembly), & if not then that is...
At the front of the leg you loosen the shift shaft lock nut, then back off the long nut to disconnect the 2 shafts. Before reconnecting, select reverse on the lower unit & at the remote.
happy new year

I have heard of oil leaking out from the front of the engine where the steering arm connects. Caused by a cracked engine mount casing. I'm not familiar with the 225, but I think it is part #11...
The 40/45/50 hp have a 3rd water inlet which is on the underside of the cavitation plate. It should be taped over when running on muffs to prevent air being sucked into the pump.
Or if running in a drum, you don't have to tape over the 3rd inlet if the water level is at least a couple of inches...
