    Murcury 1984 50 horse

    ok my 50 horse has 4 cycylinde ok my 50 horse has 4 cycylinders only running on top 2 we changed the stator now the machanic is saying when the stator went it must have shorted out the switch box. does this sound rite or do i need another machanic
