    I have a 1975 40 hp mariner 6E9 L serial 422518. I found a set of gears from a 6E9-L-42344. Can I use them in my lower unit? Thanks for your help. Beerfarmer

    40 hp Mariner

    I have a 40 hp mariner code 6E9 L serial # 422518 I need a lower unit and found one. 676 L serial # 50772 They look different but the bolt holes match up. Both motors were made in Japan. Are they interchangeable?
