    I cannot get the timing close 8 degrees BTDC and its at 25 ATDC , new flywheel, new trigger, took it to mercury dealer for a link and sync and timing. $337 Kept cutting off from in gear to neutral back to no wake.     Mercury 0T518996 ELPT Idle screw position

    Just bought 40 mercury s/n above and the idle screw is 1 inche above adjustment stop . I know previous owner had a problem with a link rod but I replaced it but same problem as before replaced. Cannot adjust idle . Something is messed up. Need help I've tried all I know, have manual but no help...
