    3.3 runs on 1/2 choke

    Question: new old motor 1998 Mercury 3.3 runs fine with ½ choke, I cleaned carb, but the gas cap diaphragm is all cracked up, why does this style of motor have a cap with a rubber diaphragm? Any ides on the ½ choke issue?, have not had a chance to put bad on water since cleaning carb.
