    1964 Johnson RDS-26 40 hp Super Seahorse starting problems

    Had my 40 hp Johnson on the lake 2 weeks ago. Took a bit to get it started, but then it ran very smoothly. At home, I wanted to run it (engine lowered in a water-filled barrel) to set the idle; on the lake, the throttle had to be halfway or it would kill. Cranked over fine, but other than a burp...
