What does the trim limit kit do?

So I am newish to boating. I installed a trim sender assembly on my 1990 omc cobra a few years back. But it only reads on the gauge for the last 20% of travel down. As soon as it get past about 20% up the gauge stops working because there is a huge gap between the switch arm and the stern drive...

there is water leaking in from a hole on the plate attached to transom

Finally No more leaks. So to recap, there is two faults, one pinhole in the bottom right corner of the transom assembly. And a broken nut on the bottom right side of the exhaust flange, both contributed to the leak. It did have a small leak when I bought the boat which Was originally probably...

there is water leaking in from a hole on the plate attached to transom

In these pics I first dremeled out the pin hole very slightly so I could push some Jb marine weld through the hole and then cover outside. Let that curw for a day and the I added a layer of the 3m marine adhesive 5200 (fast dry version) should be ready to get wet in 7 hours for hopefully the...

there is water leaking in from a hole on the plate attached to transom

Ok so half the issue was the exhaust pipe obviously but I found under very close inspection a pin hole on the bottom corner of transom assembly. Wasn't sure it was leaking there till I had my daughter blow compressed air through it and I could see air flow from inside so if air is getting...

there is water leaking in from a hole on the plate attached to transom

I got it welded and new hole drilled. Put it back on torqued to 50lbs. Really didn't feel to tight but left it at 50lbs. New oring seal and gasket sealant before seal on transom assembly flange , on seal and on exhaust flange. It's still leaking just half as much. Did I over tighten it or do I...

there is water leaking in from a hole on the plate attached to transom

Soooooo after pulling motor and then the exhaust pipe and seeing one of the bolt flanges corroded I'm pretty sure that was it. But if it leaks again still I'm gonna cry. I'll keep you updated.

Cant find correct shift cable for 5.8l

I ended up just using a tap and die set and rethreaded the new cable to fit. I really dont see why this wont work. I even put a few wraps of plumbers tape around the threads just for extra caution. and after looking at the two lengths at end they were the same.

Cant find correct shift cable for 5.8l

Ok I have purchased 2 times a new lower Shift Cable for my 1990 four winns with a 5.8l cobra Purchase one from Amazon and the other from eBay. Both threads didn't match. I'm getting frustrated because according to all the online parts diagrams the part number is 987661. But both times they...

    New gimble bearing doesnt swivel

I have purchase 3 different gimbal bearings thinking I'm either getting defective or cheap China brands because none of them swivel (as a gimbal should). They spins like a bearing but it's my understanding that gimble bearings are suppose to swivel, pivot, articulate, what ever you want to call...
