    81 Mercury 40 hp 2 stroke problem

    Hi I have a 81 Mercury 40hp that idles good and sounds like it's running good in water but when put in gear and handle turned for throttle it sounds like it idles way up but boat moves real slow. It's on a 16' aluminum Jon boat. Any suggestions? thanks
