Can anyone give me some suggestions on proper height when mounting motor on a pontoon boat? I am in the process of changing from a 50 hp Honda to 60 hp mercury big foot. currently, the honda is mounted w/the cavitatation plate approx 4" below the bottom of the motor mount box. it performs ok except on occasion when i get too much weight forward. i know that on a regular boat, you should align the cav plate w/the bottom of boat. But on a pontoon, do you use the bottom of the mounting pylon as the bottom of the boat. the pontoons are still quite a bit lower than the center mounting box. i should mention that it is a 18' pontoon. any help is appreciated. |
