I siphoned all I could get and then some from this tank and need to know what the BEST additive I can use to put in this tank to not contaminate the new refill. I was plagued with very old gas. “dead stuff” and a bit of water. The rig sat for over a year.
I viewed the inside from the fuel gauge opening and did NOT see any scum or slime. I even carefully placed a tiny rag on a stick to wipe a place and it came up wet, but clean. The gas removed would not even light off with a match!.
Removing the tank would be a very large job that I wish to avoid.

Thanks Jim

Are you asking about an additive to leave in or a 'flushing agent' to finish the job?

Sorry for the "miss-lead".
I would like a high quality additive to leave in.

Thanks

Jim

Valv-tech has received a few manufacturer endorsements and Star-tron has a huge customer base, at least around the Ches Bay, on the east coast.

I personally don't think you will need any. Best way to eliminate a recurrence is to use the gasas soon as possible. if it will sit for more than a couple weeks, remove it and burn it in the truck or lawnmower, etc...thanks my 2 cents

makomark:

Thx for the reply. Makes good sense.
I am more confident a quart or so of old gas mixed with 35 gallons of 91 octane will not do any harm.
Using it elsewhere, if it is to be setting, is a good idea. I can put some stabilizer in leaving 5 gallons or so each time the scenario dictates to gather the moisture/condensation.

Jim:

is this a trailered boat or a moored boat? If trailered, does it sit inside or outside, covered, etc?
