4 YEAR OLD , 170 HOURS ON VOLVO 5.7 LT GI-D MOTOR . HAVE A STRANGE NOISE IN MOTOR COMING OFF THE PLANE AT 1900 RPM DOWN TO 1200 RPM. SOUNDS LIKE A BELT SLIPPAGE AT THESE RPM . ONLY DOES THIS IN GEAR. 5 MOTOR MECHANICS LATER UNABLE TO FING PROBLEM.CHECKED GIMBAL BEARING , RAW WATER PUMP , POWER STEERING , ALTERNATOR , CHANGED BELTS , NOISE STILL THERE . |

maybe post this in the volvo section, get a few more ideas, I myself havent had this, it is usually a bad belt |

My pullys got Glazed from use..instead of cleaning with steel wool.. I sprayed the belt with hair spray..solved the problem |

Ayuh,....
I carry a bar of Lava handsoap in my Toolbox,....
just for this reason,....
Rubbing it on a moving Belt, usually fixes it...
And,...
So I can wash my hands.... |
