I have an 88 bayliner with an early 80's chevy 305 that I just rebuilt. The problem is once I get it started and running it cuts out if the rpm's get below about 1200 rpm's. I can't get the ignition timed right or the idle speed set because it keeps cutting out. The ignition system was upgraded to an Accel 40,000 volt supercoil and has and electronic distributor. The carb seems to be getting fuel fine and when it cuts out it just quits no sputtering or anything. If anyone might have any idea what is going on please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help. Other than a defective distributor or coil, check with a marine mechanic to see if your system needs a (new) ballast resistor. |
