To anyone that can help... I have a 1984 mercruiser , 4 cyl. 140 HP. After it starts it runs great, but it appears to flood itself out when I first attempt to start. I'm not having any luck asking mechanics at boat yards. Please help.

You may have already done this, but my first thoughts would be to check the choke and then the points. Make sure the points are clean and the gap is right. Let me know how you make out. I also have a 4 cyl 140 hp Mercruiser.
