Does anyone have a list of must-replace or must-do items before using an older outboard just purchased (ie. plugs, wires, lower unit oil, water pump impeller, etc.)? In this case, a well maintained 85 hp Johnson, and 15 hp Johnson kicker, both '79s. |

If you send me a SASE and $1, I will send a copy of "Art's 5 point plan " What to do to service the old outboard you just found. Its a couple of pages, and too much to retype here. You need to go thru the 5 basic engine systems : Magneto, gas tank, carb. water pump, and lower unit, to assure all is well. Art DeKalb 51 Van Alstyne Dr. Pulaski NY 13142 |
