ive posted here about my motor enough, all of you should kno my serial numbers by heart (thats a little joke, im so tired i dont kno if it makes sence or not) anyways, i found out what i need for the lower unit, (water pump kit, oil seals and the seal retainer) now i need to find out about the upper part. when i took the unit off, my drive shaft was in this "tube", which is right behind the water tube. i dont kno wut it is called, or how its in the motor, but theres a small peice out of the bottom, and im going to replace it, only i dont kno wut it is..can any one help me? the motor is a c25, 25 hp yamaha..1993 thanks |

Joe, I think the tube you are talking about is a seal. It prevents exhaust and hot water from getting into that part of the engine where it can cause problems. You should replace it. Tony |

are you sure its a seal? it looks like a straight tube, that the driveshaft goes up, and then when put together, that "tube" sits on top of the water pump, around the drive shaft..i got everything under control but this, its drivin me nuts not knowing exactly what it is.. thanks for the input thou, Tony |

Joe, Yes, that is called a seal. It protects the driveshaft from water and exhaust. If you have a long shaft engine ( I'm not sure whether you do or don't ), there should also be an extension that fits over the pump housing, but I'm pretty sure that this extension is secured to the housing with screws.
