i have a c25 1993 yamaha 25 hp, and i can get it going and up on plane, but then it starts to surge, ill be full throttle, and then all of a sudden it will surge and let off and keep going normal, then it will surge again, all the time in WOT ..what can be causing this? thanks

Ps just had cdi unit,carb cleaned and prop replaced

Bob,

Sounds like a fuel related problem. Surging can be caused when the fuel mixture becomes too lean, or when the engine is flooding and then leans out when at full throttle.

Another possibility is that the prop is not deep enough in the water. Make sure the transom height is right for the length of the engine.

i know it is the right depth because when i bought it i measured it up to my boat transom, and it was running perfect when i put it in the water. i will try the fuel ratio next, because now im running 50:1, 6 gallons,premix. i had 2 tanks and dumped them together.(always do that when i have a little left over)...maybe ill tear apart the carbs too. since it is a used (1993) i dont know if they have ever been cleaned...thanks for the input.

cleaned the carbs and it runs beautifully..thanks for the help.
