Recently I brought my boat in to a local shop to get the idle adjusted. They did not have a test tank. They used a hose with muff - - and the mechanic had a round piece of plywood a tad bigger than the gearcase with a hole the size of the prop shaft that he secured to the shaft with a prop nut. This creates back pressure and simulates being in the water.
Seemed to make sense to me but I have never seen or heard of this before and was wondering if this was "good practice." |

Howard.... I've never heard of that practice before, but if it works........! I'm assuming that it doesn't actually block off the outlet of the lower unit, but rather just blocks the blast somewhat at a distance.
