Recently I was cleaning the engine casing and I received a good shock when I touched the ignition coil. The engine was started previously then shut down ,and the shock occured after shut down. Any input would be very much appreciated. The engine is a 1994 50 hp. Johnson.

Mike.... I'll accept your word that you received a shock, but I have no idea as to how that could take place with the engine shut down.

Sucker's Got a Capacitor in it somewhere. Maybe it's airconditioned.

I have 1995 90 HP Johnson which I brought used two years ago. Since I have owned the boat, I have had to replace the ingnition switch three times in two years. After about using the boat 10 or 12 times, the ignition switch goes bad. I have plenty of electricity to the motor. However, when I push in the ingnition switch to choke the engine and turn it to the on position, I get nothing (silence). There is no loose wires or electrical shorts. I have had it into the two different dealers to figure out the problem. Each dealer has replace the ignition switch.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thank you
