Can this be done with a carburetion change? Or are the Mercury engines like OMC where you need to replace the exhaust manifold?

I have a 9.9 OMC that I converted to 15 simply be replacing the carburetor with a 15 carb. I was advised that this would increase the engine's pereformance. It did. I picked up a few MPH and about 1000 rpm at WOT. Since I didn't replace the exhaust manifold, I may not be getting quite 15 HP, but it is way more powerful than before. I don't know about Mercs. Address this question to Tony OB. He's the resident board expert on those. |

The 9.9 and 15 hp Mercs are two entirely different engines. I believe the 10 and 15 hp are essentially the same engine with a few differences that could be changed if you wanted to increase the power.
