I have what I beieive is a 1956 10 h.p. evinrude.The numbers on the freeze plug are 10014 on top 01337 on bottom Is it a 1956? Is the clymer a good service repair manual? I have one orderd but wont know till I receive it. How would I put sea foam deep creep in ,with spray can ? I mean though the fuel hose or how ? Thanks for any info. Jesse

The numbers on a freeze plug dont tell the tail as that is at best the part number of the part in question. Since it is possible, or rather highly probable, that this same part was used on a variety of motors perhaps spanning years as well as hp ratings there is no way to cross reference to the motor model from that part number.

You may find a tag revealing the model number/serial number somewhere on the transom clamps. For instance if the tag says the serial number is 10014-55555 then this would be model 10014 and the 55555th one produced. And, would be from the 1956 production year. The first portion of the serial number was the model number on those motors. Hope that helps.
