I had a 318 Chrysler in a boat several years ago that was saltwater cooled. When I bought the boat the engine was five years old but was kept in a fresh water river protected by a lock. So each time the boat came in from sea it was flushed as it went up river to the marina. I was going to keep the boat exclusivly in salt water so I added a fresh water supply valve between the engine and the seacock. Each time I put the boat away I turned on the water, started the nngine, and then closed the seacock( it was quite acessible). Then I would run the engine on fresh water for a few minutes before I shut it down. I had the boat for 13 years with the same engine, manifolds and risers. I put between 50 and 100 hours per year on the boat. When I sold it with this same engine it left Saugus MA and travelled to thye Bahamas. Good Luck with yours. |
