Tony..... Yep, either somebody has had that lower unit apart and has assembled something wrong, or 12 volts is being applied constantly to the "Green" wire leading to the lower unit, regardless of the shift switch setting.

Thanks Joe, I just recieved the original evinrude
service manual fm Ken Cook also. Boat was shifting fine one day last fall. I shifted into
neutral to net a fish and then it wouldn't shift
back into forward. I don't think the case has ever
been opened and I'm using Cabelas premium synthetic lower unit lube. Also, push button shift
switch seems o.k. though have not tested it yet. I
replaced a frayed throttle control cable, thinking
that might have been it, but no change. I installed the cable according to directions and
it seems to be functioning properly. I'll let you
know what I find out tomorrow when I get a chance to work on it some more. Thanks again f/ your help. |
