I am trying to hook up a '60 40hp Johnson to the controls on my '72 Starcraft boat and there is no way to connect the steering arm to the motor. Is there some kind of adapter to do this?

Jim..... There's a small s/steel bracket that attaches to the center of the steering/carrying bracket of the engine (where that small hole is in the handle). OMC part #305839 but has been unavailable since 1997. At that time, it listed for $31.00. Seems to me I have a couple laying around. Should I locate them, I'll get back to you.

Jim.... I finally located that stainless steel steering bracket but I was mistaken about the part number. The number is actually 377416 and has a (are you sitting down?) list price of $60.00 which I consider outragous. If you need it, what am I offered?
