| GM 4.3 with a cracked block |

Have a GM 4.3 in My Renell 173 boat it has a cracked block, my internal parts have very low hours everything looks like new can I use a good used block from my local junk yard? or should I consider having my block repaired at a machine
shop. |

Keith,
I would say that you could get a used block OR repair the crack. It really depends on how bad the crack is, and how good the block is other than the
crack. I guess my preverence would be to repair the crack if it is minor. There is some discussion on the board about crack repair

i have the same problem and decided that(after taking it out twice) decided to replace it outright. i haven't done it yet but as soon as the fundage becomes available i'm going to do just that. fixing the boat on the water has become a nightmare for me. i guess i should have listened to the old lady on that one. she told me to replace it at the start(i bought the boat with a bad engine but the price was right).now taking the cheaper way out has come back to haunt me. |
