Please help me I have a 6 hp chrysler I think it is a 72 model I bought the boat and motor together when I got the boat it would not run I replaced the lower unit oil immediately because of the condition it was in the peolple didnt take care of it they told me that it was running fine the last time they used it but upon looking at it the points where almost closed on it so I know it couldnt have been running anyway to make a long story short I got it running and running good so I thought I had it fixed but when I got it to the lake it would not run off choke but had been doing so before I have cleaned the carbs about four times adjusted carbs etc.but still will not run off choke will run fine with choke on but seems to die when you turn choke off sounds like it is running out of gas is it possible that it is a pump problem or what is your suggestion please help Thank you in advance.Tim Drewery

Tim.... Chryslers are not my line of expertise but your problem is a common one. I'm assuming from what you've said that this engine has a seperate fuel tank. First, if pumping the fuel primer bulb when this problem occurs cures the problem, you have either a faulty fuel pump or a air/fuel leak somewhere. If it does not cure the problem, you are overlooking something in the carburetor.... a jet that is hidden and clogged, a small passageway, something, in which case you will need to tear that carburetor down again and inspect it throughly. Look carefully for something other than what you've already looked at. Good luck.
