Hi,
I currently own an 86 merc L6 115, and just recently ran across an 84 with a blown powerhead in the want-ads. Mine has the CD (thunderbolt, type III?) ignition system; I'd like to swap the stators, and keep the lower unit, power trim, black boxes etc.. for later. Does ayone know what will and won't be swapable? I really don't know about the power trim, mine has the one that is all inside of the bracket, but the lower unit and elec. stuff is really what I'm wondering about. Thanks in advance,

The electrical systems should be identical on those engines also the lower units. I'm not sure about the power trim-I believe that is close to the year they went from external to internal systems so that could go either way.
