I would like to convert a Kubota engine out of a 8kW Onan generator for use as an auxilary. The engine has the same specs as the Kubota D1105-E, but is not variable speed. What is the difference between the 1800 rpm engines and the variable speed engines. Is it a matter of adjustment or does it have to be modified. I also need a belhousing and hurth transmission adapter plate. Any help appreciated.

the constant speed engine is kept at a constant speed by means of a governor which controls throttle position and keeps the engine at a constant speed regardless of loading, much like a lawn mower. To make it a non-constant speed all you have to do is find a way to controlling the throttle position for the injector pump or air intake(depends on how it's set up). That way you gain control over rpm rather than have it governed. It would be a REALLY good idea to find the min and max operating rpm of the engine before you go throwing a bunch of revs on something that's not meant to go very high. |
