A boat we are looking at has a Ford panther 35HP engine. It is not currently working, hopefully it is a simple problem. The price of the boat reflects that the motor is not working but does not allow for a new replacement.
I believe that these Watermota engines are of a British origin and are a modified vehicle engine.
Is this engine worth working with, rebuilding or do they have a bad reputation and we should consider replacing the unit with something different.
These engines are unheard of here where I live in Australia. |

Sea panther is a ford escort conversion, I have one on my boat which I rebuilt from two clapped out ones, works well but were always a bit smokey, when first in production. can have problems with fuel leaking into the sump via the lift pump, repair kit available, or change to electric pump. needs 20 sec's on heater button to get started. Mine is a 1973/75 engine still going strong. |
