I have replaced my 1994 yamaha me 370 sti with a brand new yamaha me 370 sti. I have same prop. After new fit the boat(23` sportscruiser) willonly get on to plane with leg trimmed completely down and any attemt to trim causes loss of speed and coming off plane. Old engine would be at 3/4 lifted at cruiing speed for optimum. Engineer who fitted said it was probably just a tight engine but after a season still same problem. He says new engine should be lighter if anything but extra weight at stern could cause the problem. But no change in set up so bemused. Any ideas,also the boat has a heavier feel when applying power and even at crusie speed (approx 20 knots) she just seems to be labouring slightly. Could the height of cavitation plate affect the trim and performance or does anybody have any idea as to what may have caused the problem. The new engine went straight into old hole so not sure if leg ht may have changed over 14years. help or ideas please |
