I rented a boat that was beat up, bent aluminum propeller, boat engine made some strange noise. I complained to the rental company about it, two days into week. When I returned the boat, they said that I hit something with the propeller and the damage caused the crankshaft to break, causing $3,000 of damage. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether hitting something hard enough to bend an aluminum propeller could break the crankshaft of the engine. It was an IO. |

No way You may manage to break a crank that way whatever You hit.
Post some picks of the crank and breakage. |

consider for a moment that there is a rubber (or plastic) hub in the prop and another in the coupler. |
