I asked about the fuel mix ratio on a 5 hp Eska. It was suggested I use 24 to 1. I found the mix ratio guide on the engine and it said a 1/2 pint oil to 1 gallon of gas. That is 8 to 1.
I am going to be trolling with this motor. Should I use the 8 to 1 as this is an air cooled engine, and the fan will not be pushing air as fast as cruising speed would? |

David I think we are both out here a bit (and this will be U.S. pints/gallons) -
1/2 pint would be 8 oz
Gallon - 128 oz
So that would be 16:1 (128/8)
I had previously given you Tecumseh's recommendation of 24:1 as they have posted as a general guideline for their aircooled engines, but given what you have found, use their listing... |

Be sure to use the right oil too!!! There's a different one for air-cooled engines than for water-cooled engines. |
