1983, mix is 50:1

When US Marine bought out Chrysler, they changed the brand name to Force and started carrying parts at Merc dealers. Check out your local merc dealer as he/she may have NOS parts on the shelf.

Hello

Maybe someone might know something about a 25 hp sea king model# vwb52125. I am trying to find the lower end, this one lost the oil seal and tore up the bushings and bearings. The motor was on a boat I just got. Hope some can help with a part assembly. Thank you Vern

Hey Mike,
There were probably several different 7.5 hp Seaking motors made. More than one manufacturer made them over the years. Do you have a model number?
As well, does it need a whole new carb, or just some parts? Parts may still be around, an entire carb may be harder to find, unless you can get a used one.
I wish you luck.

I have a Montgomery Wards 7.5 Sea King. It is a Clinton Engines Model #K7503110E, Serial #1060697, Type #XTV52259

Can anyone tell me what year it is, and any other tips like: oil to gas ratio, why it seems to have no means to replace lower unit lube?

Nicholas, you have a 1957 Gale model 5D14. It will mix at 24:1....

Mike, your motor is a 1959, made by the Gale division of OMC.
Fuel mixture would be 24:1 TCW-3 oil.

It's a 1980, made by Chrysler. http://www.discount-marine-parts.com/ob_sea_king_chrysler_model.html
It would use a 50:1 fuel/oil ratio.
I don't know where you will find a SeaKing manual, but this site does have Chrysler manuals. Sorry, I don't know how similar they are to one another. Maybe that can be answered by someone else.

Jorge, that is a 1968 model, built by Chrysler for Mongomery Wards (SeaKing was the store brand).

It will run on a mix of 50:1.

This site can sell you a Chrysler service manual or you could opt for a Seloc's manual (for Chryslers of that vintage).

Either one of those will give you all the "how to test" whatever you want to test...

Thanks for giving me that information, i guess this is the time when i would unregister out of the of the club because i got my answer; however i'm not going to do that, i think this is a great website and it is cool that people can help eachother out. so thanks for letting me that information. the boat was given to me with the motor without the registration because it belonged to the grandfather of an old friend so now all i have to figure out is how to register it. does anyone have an idea?
1. thanks Graham for the tips, you're a wise cat'
2. i'm not going to ditch the forum.
3. how do i go about registering a boat whose original owner is gone.
4. what would be the best batterie for this type of motor.

Jorge,
a group 24 "marine" starting battery would be more than enough for this motor. It can be obtained from a number of sources (dealer, Walmart etc).

West Marine sells a "dual purpose" battery. And while no battery can be both a great starting battery and a great deep cycle battery, I do run them on my smaller boat and it works well. They have a 650 MCA (Marine Cranking Amp) model that is also good for running any electronics plus a small electric trolling motor (as long as you don't kill it with the electric) :-)

Since you are an Iowa resident, check out this link. Should assist you in getting the boat registered...

www.dmv.org/ia-iowa/boat-registration.php

Not bad for a Canadian EH! :-)

J.D. - can only narrow it down to between a 1978-80 Clinton built for Montgomery Wards (Sea King was their store brand).

Can mix at 40:1 with regular 2 stroke motor oil such as used with lawnmowers and chain saws - don't use Marine TCW3, it burns up too quickly in air cooled motors.

Click my name and drop me an email, make K750 the subject and I can send you an original owners manual (pdf) - just a few pages, but nice to have...

I picked up an older and working 5HP Wards "SeaKing". Just wondering if anyone can tell me the year? Need to know what parts are interchangeable (Johnson? Evinrude?) with this model for future fixes. Gas/Oil ratio and what oil to use? Where's the best websites to pick up replacement parts for these older models? thanks in advance.

I'll answer my own question.

1961-62 Ward's SeaKing. Made by Gale. 40:1 mix ratio. (but 50:1 is working fine)
5HP. 2 cylinder. Uses Evinrude hose and gas clamps. Some parts are interchangable with Evinrude and Johnson.
THis motor has a Neutral, Forward and Reverse. Twist throttle, a choke and two knobs to control the amount of gas into the engine (although, I haven't seen a change in performance with these).
For those who may have similar motor and didn't know.
If you ask a dealer for parts for a SeaKing, they will tell you that they have no such parts so you will have to find Evinrude and Johnson parts to replace the old originals on this motor. FYI
Some parts can be found at your local auto part store too.
I use either Yamalube Marine Oil or AmsOil only in this old motor, & Yamalube gear lube, they are the best to use anyways)

I posted this for anyone who may have picked up an old SeaKing and didn't know much about their own from these years. Internet may have more info too.

Here's a quick guide for anyone who has a hard time figureing gas/oil ratios.

50:1
12 gal gas = 31 oz oil
10 gal = 25.8oz oil
5 gal = 12.8oz
3 gal = 7.68oz
1 gal = 2.56oz

40:1 mix
12 gal gas = 38.4oz
10 = 32oz
5 = 16oz
3 = 9.6oz
1 = 3.2oz

Again, I prefer Yamalube or Amsoil in older model outboard motors. Yamalube Gear Lube for the lower. peace.
