I just got my wifes 90 year grand fathers Sea King 12hp Model number 35GG-9017A Serial 470299
I really would like to know the year and make. I have the Old Outbaord boat and it looks like it was made by Evinrude. Cannot tell the year
The motor looks to be frozen. What is the best way to try to un freeze it. i am really wanting to restore this old motor. Any help with books that would help me. I am not sure if they make a repair manual for this motor.
Any help would be gratefully aapriciated.

That's either a 1949 or 1950 Gale (which was built by OMC) - that particular model was produced in both years under the same model number.
The Gale model number (for their own branded motors) was 2W8 and they did share some parts with Johnsons/Evinrudes of the same vintage, but they definately were their own brand... |
