Lincoln made a 331 Y block that is often mistaken for the Ford Y block - but I doubt any parts will interchange. Lincoln made a 430 that could never be mistaken for either Y block. bore & stroke comprise displacement while heads comprise compression ratio & breathabilty. The 292 has a smaller bore & stroke than the 312. Because the main bearings are larger on the 312, the crankshafts aren't interchangable. All else is interchangable between the 292 & 312. Well, rods are a different length & pistons need to match cylinder bore. Some parts are better than others for performance as well. |
