I recently purchased a 1950 18' Century Resorter with its original Century/Gray Marine Phantom 6-125 engine. I have removed the engine from the boat and have a friend restoring it. My friend is a master automotive mechanic for Mercedes-Benz and does not foresee any complications with the restoration of marine engine... are there any known subtleties that automotive guys should be aware of that often get overlooked? We are taking the engine (which is in very good condition for sitting unused and not fogged since 1973) completely down and then will hot tank everything to strip all corosion/paint/rust, then will be replacing/reassembling/repainting/chroming/reinstalling. Any insight or suggestions? Thanks! |
