We need to know the middle valve, the hose is loose and lying their, does it hook up to let the water into the engine. We know the bottom valve is too let the water in but what is the middle valve for. The top is for the garden hose. |

It is hard to follow what you mean from your description above.... What model of Gray Marine engine do you have? I think you need a service and operating manual so that you can look at some cooling diagrams and figure out your piping.
Maybe you could try to describe your situation more fully and include a photograph.
