Recommended timing for the 327 ci.in. is "0" for 92 octane. What should be the timing for a 87 octane rating? |

5 deg. DTC. I just set my engine to this and unhooked the vacuum advance. This was suggested to me by a Lyman guru and master mechanic in the Port Clinton, Oh area. I run 89 octane and add lead additive and octane boost. |

I set my 327 timing at "0" after the rebuild. Using 87 octane and have not had any problems, no pinging or backfiring even in the 4000+ rpm range after two years and many hours. Normal crusing around 2500 rpm and it purrs. |
