Can anyone recommend a modern universal alternator that might work on my Fireball V8 215 flywheel aft?

Also, does anyone have a spare alternator bracket they would sell?

Steve, here's a link to another string on this board that might help you out. Although it's old the addresses are the same and Kim is still at Gray Marine Inc. in St. Charles. Ill.
They would probably have the original alternator if that is what you need also the bracket. Prices are very reasonable.

Steve!
What year is that motor? You said it was a 215 HP
Most Gray's that sported the flywheel aft carried a generator which hung under the exhaust manifold, on the starboard side of the eng. Gray didn't start putting altenators on eng's until 1963 with the flywheel foward amd the waterpump and altenator were on the top side of the eng. The altenator that was used back then was a Leece Neville. a very good altenator. If your replacing the generator I would recomend a Delco Marine altenator.with a built in regualtor.
I hoped this answered your question.
Fred
