OK I am a NEWBIE but I have done lots of work to my 1987 Ski Centurian with a PCM 351. I have ALWAYS had problems starting the boat when its cold. I had the carb professionally rebuilt and had the distributor switched over to electronic the 1581 one I have seen on this forum.
Got stranded last weekend due to hard starting. I noticed again that the engine only fires when the starter key is released.
Searched this site and tried removing the ballast? resistor under the plastic cover by the circuit breaker. The coil is a mallory blaster II. Now its firing up good but still ONLY when I release the key from the start position. It shouldn't be a problem if it continues to work
I was wondering if someone who knows can elaborate on the 6 volt circuit I have been reading about on this forum.
Is it ok to leave the resistor off with my coil? |
