hey everybody, pcm 302 on shamrock 20 cc w/ early 80's velvet drive suffering from moderate/heavy amount of rust (motor mounts are slowly disintegrating as well). sooo many products out there have my head spinning... any recommendations for stopping the rust in marine environment?? thanx- JP |

I have fought this battle for many years with a sailboat. What works best is cleaning the rust with a steel brush then using phosphoric acid. It is sold in hardware stores. Yoou paintit on and let it sit for 12 hours and it will convert the rust to iron phosphate. This becomes a barrier to rust. It is the same as parkerizing. After it is dry paint with rustoleum. |

I found a product at the John Deere dealership called "Fluid Film". See www.eurekafluidfilm.com. It has no solvents. It leaves a waxy residue that doesn't seem to dry out. |
