I have one of these engines that came on a pallet with a new sailboat that I purchased. The engine is brand new. I'm trying to decide if its worth installing as on the west coast they are not common at all. Can anybody comment on the performance and durability of these engines? Whats it worth? Thanks for any help Gary |

Do not confuse lack of local knowledge and parts with lack of quality. Bukh is one of the best. As good if not better than Yanmar. I've sailed an eguivalent 12,000 lb sailboat to mine with a new 3 cyl. Yanmar. It was not as smooth or quiet as my 2 cyl. - 24 yr old. Bukh. In Canada Bukh DV24's cost about 12k. I've had a DV10 in a previous racing sailboat, no probs. and now a DV20 in our 33 ft. cruiser. Just put the DV20 back in boat after new motor mounts and misc. spruce-up. Expect it will last another 24 years. BTW... we average 1.3 LITERS per hour. cheers, George |

George - I'm trying to sell the engine for US$4000 It is too small for my Westsail 32, I'm going to install a universal 40B which will give me 38hp. If you know anyone who wants a new engine let me know! |
