I am looking at a 37' Endeavour sloop with a Perkins 50HP engine. According to the marine surveyor, the engine has over 4,000 hours.
I know nothing about these engines. It this engine past its prime or is it possible that there would still be life in the old girl? The surveyor said the engine started easily, didn't smoke and performed well during different RPM tests. Any advice? |

I have a 51' Endeavor sloop with an 85 HP Perkins 4.236. When I bought it more than 5 years ago it had about 6000 hours today it has about 12, 000 hours and is still running strong. Keep the engine oil and filters changed and she will last. "Endeavor is a great boat" We are in Venezuela with her now and have put her through the ultimate tests 40 foot seas in the Gulf of Mexico in a Nor’wester etc; Check out www.endeavorowners.com
