Marinising of Perkins 4236 engine

We have been looking for a fully reconditioned Perkins 4236 engine but not having much luck. We have found a Perkins 4236 "that needs to be marinised". Does anyone have information on the extent and cost of the work involved in marinising such an engine and whether a marine mechanic can do that work or if a specialist is required?
