What would cause oil to come out of the dipstick tube while the engine is running? I am looking at a boat with twin 4-236. One engine has a plastic hose covering the dipstick tube which seems to take overflow into a plastic container. Owner says in a 30 mile run 1 qt of oil could be in the container. |

Stu- By now you will have figured-out that the mchanical fuel pump has probably sprung a leak in her diaphragm. Thus, diesel fuel bypasses the output from this pump and collects in the engine oil sump, slowly raising the oil level until oil overflows out the dipstick tube. Check your fuel pump.... |
