Hello !
Ive got excessive smoke on my thames trader 6-cyl 6 liter 1959 (earlier model to Lehman). The injection pump, timing, cyl head, injectors, everything has been checked.
I suspect the piston rings are bad or the whole is not anymore at its best order.
I made a compression test, all cylinders were between 18-20 bar or 260-280 psi. Has anyone done the compression test of a good engine ? What are the real values ? Some mechanics say to me that your engines compression sounds good, some othere say its should be at least 28 bars. Im so confused, can somebody tell me the REAL practical information please ? |

You need to be about 360 to 380 with no more than 20 psi between cylinders. It sounds like your engine is an old Ford Dagenham engine. If you need anything please call or e-mail www.bomacmarine.com is our website.
