Yanmar 3GMD Timing

Author Message   jm New member Username: saildude Post Number: 1 Registered: 11-2009 Posted on Thursday, November 19, 2009 - 11:12 pm:    Does any one know of a better and more accurate way to check the injection pump timing for my engine? The manual states fuel flow from the injection pump fitting once if is in time, but to shim up the flange to bring it in closer. Any other ways of doing this? My engine has just gone through an overhaul (rings, main and crank bearings, valve job, etc), but what needs to be completed is to check the timing; still hard to start at this point. Any feed back will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
